Educational Background

Personal Biography

Dr. Thomas K. Gaylord received the B.S. (Physics) and the M.S. (E.E.) degrees from the University of Missouri-Rolla and the Ph.D. (E.E.) degree from Rice University. He is the author of some 170 technical journal publications in the areas of optics and solid state. He is the recipient of numerous awards including seven Sigma Xi research awards, an "Engineer of the Year" award, the "Curtis W. McGraw Research Award" from ASEE, the "Georgia Institute of Technology Outstanding Teacher" award, the "Georgia Institute of Technology Outstanding Faculty Research Author" award, and the "Georgia Institute of Technology Outstanding Doctoral Advisor" award. He received an honorary professional degree from the University of Missouri-Rolla. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and of the Optical Society of America.
