Open source tools

• The OSSWIN project - A database of open source Windows applications
• Gnucash - An open source financial management tool. Lets you maintain a comprehensively categorized account book. This software requires you to learn or know the basics of double entry accounting.
• Inkscape - An open source tool for drawing scalable vector graphics. You can also export files it to a huge variety of graphics formats. I use it to draw block diagrams. The textext plugin for Inkscape lets you insert and edit LaTeX formatted objects. This plugin is especially useful to insert equations in Inkscape.
