1. 5.39 (a) in Brogan

2. For the system described in Problem 9.29 of Brogan, determine the state equations and compute the transfer matrix.

3. Solve 9.31 in Brogan using the Laplace Transform method. In addition, do the following steps:

a) Find the transfer function when C = [1 1] and D = 0. Verify your answer using Matlab.

b) Perform a similarity transformation on this system when C = [1 1], D = 0, x = Tq and

Give the new system in state space form and recompute the transfer function from this system
definition.
c) Simulate the system with the initial conditions and the input as given in the book. Use the
command lsim for the simulation. Plot your analytical solution (found using Laplace
Transforms) and the simulation results for x(t) to compare them.
