ECE8843 Homework Assignment 2 (HW-2) (v.1.0, 9/8/04)

Due before 8 am Wednesday Sept. 15. Video students add 14 days.

Instructions. Install a version of PGP or GPG software on a PC so that you can use it to encrypt and decrypt email messages.  You must first use it to generate a Public-Private pair of keys for yourself, and add my Public Key to your Key Ring.

Information on PGP and GPG will be added to the class Web site "pgp" folder. A commercial version of PGP can be bought from http://www.pgp.com/ (Personal Desktop, $59 - http://www.pgp.com/products/desktop/personal/index.html).  Links to free versions of PGP and GPG can be found at http://cryptography.org/getpgp.htm, or you can download PGP from http://www.pgpi.org/.

Copy this document from the Web Page, or save it from your email program, as a "text" file.  Edit it in a word processor to add your name, gt-id, and email address into the square brackets.  Save it as a "text" file, "paste" it into the message area of an email,and email it back to me: (john.copeland@ece.gatech.edu).

Email the completed document as the body of a message (not as an attached document) with the Subject exactly as "HW-2" (4 characters).  Please send questions or comments in a separate message, with a different Subject (e.g., "Question on HW-2").  Mail with the correct subject will be automatically filtered into the homework grading program. Including quotes or extra spaces may prevent your homework submission from being automatically graded.

The email return should be encrypted using my Public Key.  You can download my Public Key from http://users.ece.gatech.edu/~copeland/jac/PGP_Key.html by Copying and Pasting it into your PGP or GPG Key Ring (see program instructions).  The message should be "signed" by using your Private Key.

Include your Public Key in the space indicated below.
