Vincent A. Emanuele II
About Me
Hi, my name is Vincent A. Emanuele II, and I'm a graduate student studying bioinformatics and genomics in the Center for Signal and Image Processing in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech. My advisor is Dr. G. Tong Zhou. I received a B.E. in electrical engineering from the University of Delaware in spring of 2002. In the Fall of 2002, I began my graduate studies in the department of ECE at Georgia Tech, where I completed the MSECE degree in Spring of 2004. I am currently working towards the PhD degree under the suprovision of G. Tong Zhou in the Center for Signal and Image Processing.

I'm originally from Rockville, MD.

Research Interests
I am currently studying the application of signal processing theory and methods in solving problems in biology. In particular, I have been worked along with Thao Tran on finding approximate tandem repeats, a special type of pattern occuring in DNA. Additionally, I am looking for interesting biological phenomena that will motivate the development of innovative new signal processing algorithms. Currently, I am developing new techniques for analyzing Mass Spectrometry data at the Computational Systems Biology Lab (CSBL), where I am a visiting research for the 2005-2006 academic year.

I am also intersted in other more traditional signal processing and mathematical topics, such as target tracking, data fusion, detection and estimation theory, and Hilbert space theory. I worked on problems in data fusion and target tracking for Advanced Acoustic Concepts of Columbia, MD in the summer of 2002.

For my undergraduate thesis, I did some work under Dr. Kenneth E. Barner on image segmentation. The application in mind for our image segmentation research effort was tactile imaging.
