Biography
Luis Carlos Cobo was born in 1983 in Úbeda, Spain. In July 2006 he obtained his Engineering Degree in Telecommunications from the Escuela Superior de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación within the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
After graduation he moved to San Francisco and joined cozybit Inc.. At cozybit he worked as a developer in different projects, including the wireless mesh network stack for the XO laptop of the One Laptop Per Child. Later he designed and implemented the first 802.11s open source implementation, open80211s. This mesh stack was merged into the mainline Linux kernel in release 2.6.26.
Currently, he is a PhD student at the Georgia Institute of Technology, in the Broadband Wireless Networking Lab under the supervision of Pr. Dr. Ian F. Akyildiz, with a fellowship of “la Caixa”. His current research is focused on Nanonetworks.
