Visiting Associate Professor (Profesor Contratado Doctor Visitante)
Pablo Ameigeiras was born in Madrid (Spain), on December 28, 1975.
He received his M.Sc.degree in Telecommunication Engineering in 1999 by the University of Malaga (Spain). Granted by the Andalucian Regional Goverment, he carried out his Master Thesis at the Chair of Communication Networks, Aachen University (Germany), under the supervision of P. Seidenberg and Professor B. Walke in the field of Random Access Mechanisms for Packet Services in UMTS.
In 2000, he joined the Cellular System Group at the Center for Person Kommunikation (CPK), Aalborg University (Denmark) where he worked toward his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Wireless Communications specialization) under the supervision of J. Wigard and Professor P. Mogensen, and with full sponsorship from Nokia Networks. In 2003 he defended his Ph.D. thesis "Radio Resource Management and Quality of Service for packet services in High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA)" where he studied state-of-art packet scheduling algorithms under QoS constraints for different services.
After finishing his Ph.D., Pablo worked for Optimi Corporation (later acquired by telecom equipment manufacturer Ericsson). In Optimi he worked as a Senior Member of Technical Staff and was responsible for the design and development of software tools for the evaluation of 3G networks. Additionally he investigated radio planning and automatic optimization techniques for 3G networks.
In 2006, he joined the Department of Signal Theory, Telematics, and Communications at the University of Granada (Spain). Since then, he has been leading several projects in the field of 3G LTE and LTE-Advanced systems, analyzing the performance of these systems in terms of both Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE). During this period he has become a member of the Telematics Laboratory, headed by Professor Lopez-Soler, and the Research Center for Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) of the University of Granada. Currently, he is performing a research stay at the Broadband Wireless Networking Lab directed by Professor I. Akyildiz
