The U.S. Navy (DASN C4I) and the Georgia Institute of Technology are hosting a two-day workshop with invited government and industry representatives to review the state-of-the-art and current research and development activities relating to development of a Common Operating Environment (COE) for signal processing in DoD systems, and to identify future research and development needs. Presentations are sought on topics which address novel approaches, tools, performance, problems, and standards related to implementation of a signal processing COE.
Workshop Location and Schedule
The workshop will be held in Room 102 of the J. M. Pettit Microelectronics
Center on the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta,
Georgia. The tentative workshop hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM both days.
A more detailed agenda will be provided to registrants by electronic mail as
it becomes available and updated as necessary.
Pre-Workshop Social Dinner
Plans are being made for a pre-workshop group dinner at The Country Place
on Peachtree Rd/17th Street on the evening of Monday, June 10.
If you have any food restrictions, please let us know in advance.
Cost
There is no charge for registration at the workshop. There will be a
nominal daily charge of 6$ for break refreshments,
payable in cash on arrival. Please let us know if you have any
dietary restrictions in advance.

Proceedings
No proceedings will be published. Participants are asked to provide two
hard copies and one electronic copy of their slides which will be posted on
the world-wide web by Georgia Tech after the workshop. The preferred format
is Microsoft PowerPoint 4.
Audio-Visual Needs
Viewgraphs are the preferred presentation material. A standard overhead
projector will be provided. Participants wishing to use videotape players,
computer screen projectors, or other additional aids must contact Mark
Richards to determine availability. Participants should not bring
demonstration computer systems.
Lodging and Hotel Information
Participants are responsible for their own lodging arrangements. Several
hotels are available near Georgia Tech. One particularly convenient location
(about 0.5 mile from Tech)
is the Marriott Courtyard Midtown, located at 1132 Techwood Drive. The room

newly renovated
Fairfield Inn at 1470 Spring Street (the corner of Peachtree St. and Spring

Transportation
Georgia Tech and the Midtown Marriott Courtyard and Fairfield Inn are easily

For convenience, directions from the Atlanta airport to the Marriott Courtyard, Fairfield Inn, and Georgia Tech Pettit Microelectronics Center are:
To Georgia Tech's Microelectronics Center from the Airport: Take Interstate 85 North (it merges with I-75 North as well) through downtown Atlanta to Exit 101, 10th Street/14th Street. At the light at the end of the exit ramp, turn left onto 10th St. Continue several blocks and turn left State Street. Continue to the traffic light and turn left onto Ferst Drive. At the next traffic light, turn right onto Atlantic Drive. The third building on your left, between the College of Computing and the Van Leer Electrical Engineering Building, is the Microelectronics Center. Park in the parking lot up the inclined driveway to your right as you pass the building.
To the Marriott Courtyard from the Airport: Take Interstate 85 North (it merges with I-75 North as well) through downtown Atlanta to Exit 101, 10th Street/14th Street. Continue straight through the light at the end of the exit ramp across 10th St. to the next light, which is 14th St. Turn left onto 14th St. and cross over the freeway. Take the first left after you cross the freeway onto Techwood Drive; there is a Wolf Camera Shop on this corner. The Marriott Courtyard is immediately behind the camera shop on your right.
To the Fairfield Inn from the Airport: Take Interstate 85 North (it merges with I-75 North as well) through downtown Atlanta to Exit 101, 10th Street/14th Street. At the light at the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto 10th St. At the 2nd traffic light, turn left onto West Peachtree St. Continue about 1 mile north on W. Peachtree, which then forks. Follow the RIGHT fork for Hwy. 19 North; this takes you onto Peachtree St. (as opposed to West Peachtree St. that you have been on). At the 2nd traffic light, turn left onto Hwy. 19 South (Spring Street). The hotel is one block ahead on your right.
To Georgia Tech's Microelectronics Center from either hotel: From the Courtyard, exit right (south) out of the parking lot. Bear right at the fork in the road. At the stop sign, turn right onto 10th St. From the Fairfield Inn, drive south on Spring St. until you come to 10th St. Turn right onto 10th St. and cross over the freeway.
In either case, continue several blocks and turn left onto State Street. Continue to the traffic light and turn left onto Ferst Drive. At the next traffic light, turn right onto Atlantic Drive.
