Project Overview

In this project, we design an OFDM-TDMA/TDD MAC protocol with QoS constraints for broadband indoor wireless LAN.  In such a MAC protocol,  QoS guarantees of multimedia traffic,  dynamic TDD,  and the features of OFDM are investigated.

To date, an OFDM-TDMA/TDD frame structure has been finalized. A hierarchical scheduling scheme has been developed  to manage the resource allocation to multimedia traffic so that QoS guarantees of multimedia traffic and high resource utilization can be achieved. Dynamic TDD can also be performed via the scheduling scheme.
Computer simulation has been carried out to evaluate the performance of the MAC protocol.

The MAC protocol will be implemented and tested on the sotware radio testbed. Currently, transport/MAC and MAC/Physical interface functions are being developed.
