    Traffic Flow Model

    The types of multimedia traffic supported by the MAC protocol are shown as follows.


     

    Frame Structure

    The OFDM-TDMA/TDD frame structure is shown in the following figure. Frame mapping subframe containes the mapping between connection ID and allocated time slots of each mobile terminal. When adaptive modulation and coding are used, the frame mapping also includes the modulation and coding schemes for each connection.


     
     

    Hierarchical Scheduling

    Based on the OFDM-TDMA/TDD framestructure, a hierarch scheduling scheme has been proposed to allocate resources to multimedia traffic. Dedicated time slots are allocated to a guaranteed service connection once it is accepted. The remaining time slots are allocated to controlled-load and best effort servcies in a hierarchical way as shown in the following figure.
