Biography
Zhi Sun received B.S. degree from Department of Communication Engineering, Beijing University of Posts and
Telecommunications (BUPT), and M.S. degree from Department of Electronical Engineering,
Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2004 and 2007, respectively.
Currently, Zhi Sun is a PhD student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a Research Assistant under Prof.
Ian F. Akyildiz at the Broadband Wireless Networking (BWN) Laboratory,
since Augest 2007. His current research is focused on Wireless Underground Communication Networks.

- Awarded with a travel grant by US National Science Foundation (NSF) and by IEEE's Communications Society, for attending the IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM 2009), Honolulu, USA, 2009.
- Awarded with a travel grant by US National Science Foundation (NSF) and by IEEE's Communications Society, for attending the IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM 2008), New Orleans, USA, 2008.
- Honored as the "Excellent Graduate" (2 out of 152 students in Department of Electronical Engineering), Tsinghua Univ., Beijing, China, 2007.
- Awarded with a travel grant by US National Science Foundation (NSF) and by IEEE's Communications Society, for attending the IEEE Military Communications Conference (MILCOM 2006), Washington D.C., USA, 2006.
- Graduated from Beijing Univ. of Posts & Telecom (BUPT) in July 2004, with the rank of 5 out of 453 students in Department of Communication Engineering.
